Oh, Clinique, You Make Me a *Happy* Girl

by

There are certain things which I simply do not lie about ever; two of them are makeup and shopping. As I said I would, I stopped in my local Macy’s yesterday after work, ran to the Clinique makeup counter, and bought $21.50 or more worth or products so that I could get a free bonus bag filled with goodies.

The three-in-one bags are even cooler than I had imagined based on the pictures. The biggest one is twice as big as a normal free Clinique makeup bag, the facial lotion and makeup remover are twice as big as sample sizes, and the two faux snake skin print bags are ideal for using as a clutch and wristlet.

So … what did I buy to get the freebie?

My best new discovery is the Touch Blush whipped mousse rouge ($16.50). I’d tried powdered blush, I’d tried - and preferred - cream blush, but now I am definitely a fan of mousse. It has a spongy texture that allows you to get the perfect amount on your fingertip or brush. So no more wasting cream blush if you dip in too deep, and no more tapping powder off a brush.

I also got some City Cover Compact Concealer with SPF($13.50) because I loved how creamy and thick it was compared to drugstore brands. And, if I’m being completely honest, I have a few blemishes that need some thick coverage.

On a side note, if your concealer has SPF, be sure to use SPF on the rest of your face, too, or else you could end up with white spots! I know from experience!

The final product I snagged was Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder ($18.50), an oil-free, shine-absorbing, moderately-covering powder in a compact that could double as a weapon (it’s heavy duty!). Hopefully, this will be perfect for a quick touch-up after work.

But really, it was all about the bags for me.

Did you go get anything good?
