People Magazine Wins Bid for Jolie-Pitt Twins’ Pictures
It’s official: People magazine has the winning bid for first U.S. dibs on photographing the new Jolie-Pitt twins, Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon. The babies,
who were born one minute apart July 12 in Nice, France, will be the cover feature of the Monday, August 4 issue with a debut online the evening of Sunday, August 3. In the U.K., Hello! magazine has earned the rights.
The couple gave many exclusive rights to French media outlets, local to the birthplace, such as first announcement of names, and the right to talk to the hospital and doctors.
Reportedly, OK! and People magazines were in a bidding frenzy, fighting over the exclusive American rights, until People won at a rumored $15 million. Although a specific charity - or two, or more - has yet to be named, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will be donating the photograph profits.
The photo shown, of the couple smooching, is from the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards this January.
