Saks and St. Jude Team Up
If you could create any dream gift possible, what would it be?
Ask an adult this question, and it won’t be as elaborate as if you ask a child. As we mature, we gain a realistic outlook on life that influences our dreaming and hinders the depth of our imagination. Ask this to a young one, then, and receive an over-the-top musing that only such youth could dream up.
This is what Saks Fifth Avenue did for their five new extravagant holiday gift packages.
Working along side the children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Saks is unveiling five unbelievable luxury gifts available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit St. Jude.
So what are you imagining right now? Does it involve designing your own snow globe? How about imitating the life of a rock star fairytale princess? Was i right that these children were able to create - through drawings crafted with Saks associates - more than you could ever imagine?
Here, briefly, are the five holiday offerings which you can read about in more detail in Saks’ first holiday catalog, Snow or Never, which will arrive in homes this month:
1. You can have The World in Your Hands for $3,000 ($1,000 of which will go to St. Jude Children’s). Customize a Saks musical snow globe, and receive five globes of your design to give out as mementos. You can choose landmarks, figurines, music, and such that are meaningful, inspirational, or otherwise personal to you.
2. For $25,000 ($5,000 of which goes to St. Jude), you can Live the Rock Star Life. This gift package includes front row seats at Matchbox Twenty’s tour kickoff concert, a chance to meet Rob Thomas and the band, and receive an autographed guitar. Flight tickets and three nights of first-class accommodations for two are also included.
3. Fairytale lifestyle is apparently more expensive than that of a rock star, because it’ll cost you $60,000 ($5,000 of which will go to St. Jude) to enjoy a Fairytale Weekend. Spend your fantasy weekend in New York City as you create a customized ring with jewelry designer Temple St. Clair, formulate your very own fragrances for him and her with Bond No. 9 founder Laurice Rahme, dine at Gramercy Tavern, and have a private shopping spree at Saks Fifth Avenue before the store opens. Of course, first class airfare and a suite for two at the Plaza Hotel are all included. Sounds to me like the perfect accessory for the Disney princess bride-to-be.
4. Costs rise to $115,000 ($5,000 will go to St. Jude) for the Sun, Sea, and Spices luxury gift. Purchase this dream and two people - via first class air, of course - to Bora Bors for a deep sea fishing adventure with chef Jean Georges Vongerichten who will prepare you a VIP dinner at his Lagoon Restaurant. Then have a private tour of Robert Wan’s Black Pearl Museum. You’ll stay one night in Tahiti, and then at the deluxe St. Regis Resort in Bora Bora.
5. For the most lavish, spare-no-expense
shopper, A Driver’s Dream tops off the expense chart with a price tag of $520,000 ($10,000 will be given to St. Jude). But you’ll get your money’s worth with this one: you can own the first-ever SLR Mercedes-Benz Roadster Convertible! Fly VIP to Monaco for the 2008 Formula One race where you will receive private driving lessons from the professionals at the Circuit Paul Richard Racetrack in Provence, France.
I’m more sentimental than money-minded, so I’ll take the design your own snow globe dream. In fact, I’d like to meet the child at St. Jude Children’s Hospital that dreamed that one up!
